After the birth of my first child, Jessica, I became very hooked on the subject of childbirth. My labor was over 30 hours long, but the preparation my husband and I had for it, having taken Bradley Method® classes, made it a challenge that we were able to tackle together. I believe that the techniques that we learned and the confidence that we gained helped us to not only avoid many “minor” interventions like a Pitocin drip to speed up my slow labor (which wouldn’t have helped anyway since the problem was not strength of contractions, but rather the position of my daughter), or an IV, but ultimately even a Cesarean section when my labor “stalled” at 9 cms for 6 hours.
My passion to learn more about the topic and learn how to help other women/couples has only increased in the past few years and with the births of my next four children.
In 2001 and 2002 I became a doula and certified childbirth education instructor following intensive training with two nationally recognized childbirth organizations. In 2005 I teamed up with several other experienced educations to bring the BabyBodyBirth concept to women and their families.
To further my training, I added Child Passenger Safety Technician certification in 2003, and attended a Spinning Babies® seminar in 2006 to better understand how the baby’s position in the womb affects labor. I bring the techniques I have learned to pregnant moms to improve their chances of an easier birth. In 2007 I became an American Red Cross certified First Aid/CPR/AED instructor.
My philosophy on childbirth is influenced by my faith in God, and trust in His design (see “Why Christian Childbirth Classes“). While I understand that humans are fallen creatures and thus sometimes problems will arise, I believe that the female body is designed to birth without interference in the majority of cases. I have been helping moms to enjoy healthier pregnancies and births through education and hands on support for 9 years. I am a graduate of Lafayette College, and reside with my family in Allentown, PA.

I am a now former patient of the midwives and I need to find someone else to deliver me. I am due Dec. 7th. I would info on your prices, as well as any advice
Jasmine–I’ll send you an e-mail. I’m “just” a doula–so I can’t replace The Midwives for you–but I can refer you to other care providers.
Dear Jenn,
My name is Brooke and I am 25 weeks pregnant with my third child. I am currently a patient of Laurice and Tina at The Midwives and Associates. I just opened my letter today informing me of the hospital taking away their priveleges. Since it is Sunday I havn’t spoken to them yet as to my other ooptions. I really wanted to have a homebirth, but we just cannot afford the cost. I read the thing about your anniversary so I know you understand. My husband is a construction worker and this isn’t the best time to be in that business. By the way, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! I was in touch with Kate Fawley via e mail for a while before I decided that I couldn’t afford the home birth ( even though you can’t beat that price ) My insurance covered the midwives 100%. Any way to make a long story short, I am freaking out!!!! I am due in August and I don’t know what to do. Do you have any suggestions??
Dear Jenn,
I am also a patient of Laurice at the Midwives and associates. I was devastated to hear about her misfortune however i was deturmined to have her deliver my child. Lucky for me my insurance covers homebirths 100%. I am hoping to have our son the end of July and Laurice told me she needs me to get a doula asap. I would love to hear from you. The other doula she suggested is worried i will have the baby while she is on vacation as her vacation is scheduled for my actual due date. I have been unable to find anyone in the allentown area. I would feel better having a doula that is close to me, as Laurice is only a few minutes away too. Please contact me if you are interested or have any suggestions. Time is running short as i am 33 weeks already.
I am looking for a midwife for a home birth in the Chambersburg area (Franklin/Cumberland County PA). I do not seem to find any in my area. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you for your help in advance.

Hi there.
So neat to come across your website. I live in South Whitehall..and planning for the idea of baby #2..I used Laurice for our first…great experience..but now options are limited and am trying to get as much input from experienced doulas as far as where you recommend me go for our second..if I am not yet comfortable with a home birth…and prefer hospital with little intervention unless needed. I went natural with our first…long labor..but worth the results of a healthy baby.
Christina,
I love your website!
I sent you an e-mail with some information, I hope it is helpful. Please do let me know if I can help you in any other way.
Howdy Jenn! I’m also in PA. I’m an L&D RN at one of the bigger hospitals. I’m also a Frontier Midwifery student, and so excited about moving more towards a midwifery model of care. Fantastic website
Hi Jenn,
So glad I came accross your website! I am looking for classes for myself, my husband, and my assistants to be present at the birth of my 2nd child. I am planning on doing a home birth provided everything continues on course! Do you have any classes planned for home births? If not, what is the current schedule for the Bradley classes. Due date is May 4th- so I am looking for something with-in the next few weeks! If not, are there any video’s/books that you would recommend so we can do our own ‘home class’ with practice sessions?
Thanks!. I am located in Kunkletown, and Laurice will be present for the birth.
